before the flood

I'm less than 4 days out from the first of the three marathons in three days, that's a bit daunting on it's own but add in the facts that I'm battling a cold and that my recent training has been minimal and... yeah. Don't get me wrong, I'm looking forward to Friday and I'm sure Saturday and Sunday will be fine, I just know I'll be slightly less prepared than I should be... oh well, what's new?

A year ago today I was running my first marathon... seems odd... I knew that day that I intended to run another (I may have even had plane tickets bought already) but I didn't know that I would run so many (relatively speaking). It's been a good first year as a 'marathoner,' maybe a little less productive than I would've hoped for but good never the less.

It'll be interesting running Seattle this year as I'll have something to compare it to. After last year I stated numerous times that I wouldn't run Seattle again, not because it was a bad race but rather, why run the same race when there's so many others? Well, I guess the reason why presented it self and now, here I go again. In a way though, I will be unable to compare the two experiences, after all, the hills that I thought were tough last year because I was under trained I'll think are tough this year because I will have ran a marathon the last two days prior, so how could I gauge improvement?

Really, I think running 3 marathons in 3 days will test my ability to listen to my body more than anything, I know endurance will be a big part of it, but I think recovery will play a large roll as well. Can I rest my self well enough & fuel my self properly to be able to put in a good effort at each event? As much as finishing is the main goal, it would be nice not to be completely worthless by the end of Sunday.

So anyways, off I go into oblivion (sorry if that's a little melodramatic), I'll be sure to post on the other end of all this...
