Tuesday & Wednesday

...so Tuesday I decided to mix it up a bit and take a different route than usual, it wasn't a new route by any means but it is a more visually stimulating one at least. The route takes me up a hill early, down a hill that runs through the only old growth forest in the city of Seattle, past a park, and down to Alki beach, and then back (of course). For some reason I decided music was a good idea, so I dusted off the old shuffle and hit the road. I'm not sure if it was the hills, the lack of water I drank that day, or the music throwing off my focus, but I was just not 'feeling it', the run itself wasn't so bad but the pace was ugly, over 8 minutes a mile. There was a part of my that was telling myself to run easy prior to the run even starting, but over 1.5 minutes slower on a 3 mile run?!? Yeesh...

Oh well, I got it back (and then some)...

Wednesday afternoon/evening rolled around and the weather looked awful, it was windy and rainy. The wife suggested some home made pizza for dinner (who was I to say no to that?), I asked her if I had time to get in my run prior but the timing just wouldn't work (ie: either cold pizza & a hungry, waiting wife -or- burned pizza). I began eating (awesome) pizza and sat happily on the couch, 3/4 of the pie later I didn't feel like doing anything (but that wasn't up to me, was it?)... I finally got off my rear, got changed, and began stretching(indoors, where it was warm), by this point the rain had all but gone away but it still looked mighty chilly out there, never the less, out the door and on to the road... my feet felt numb for the first mile and a half or so due to the cool, oddly enough I kind of found this amusing if not down right enjoyable. I could tell I was making good time and decided to not let up. When I got to the middle school track(on the way back), a distance I knew as 5K, I took a look at my pedometer/stop watch, to my pleasure it read 20:30, or somewhere there abouts. I did 2 laps around the track, the extra 1/2 mile I needed to make this a 4 mile run, and hit one last steep hill and sprinted home. My final time was 27:32 which works out to a 6:40 mile.... I felt as though I had made up for the day before... I was pleased...

Another (yawn) 3 miles tonight... maybe I'll try a new route.... this time without the tunes ;-)

Hey boyo!, well seeing as how you dont have a running partner I've decided to help you out in the game or marathon preparations. So what I've done is I've planned out a course on a piece of paper how far, and how long I want to run. This is as far as I've gotten so far.. just thought you might like to know, oh and I have to get a new pair of shoes first. The ones I have right now (Nike) suck. Usually I have saucony's but why I changed I don't know. By the way I love the picture of you sitting on the bench after eating your pizza... I now see what Rachael sees in you!
